Habiba Mohamed is the Regional Director of Programs in Africa and Bwalya Magawa Chomba is the Program Director for Zambia at Fistula Foundation.
In this episode Habiba and Bwalya share stories of obstetric fistula, stories that have shifted their work to help end fistula.
Obstetric fistula is a horrible childbirth injury often due to prolonged obstructed labor. It leaves women and girls incontinent, and far too often suffering in isolation, without knowledge of treatment. Often, the baby dies during childbirth.
Habiba and Bwalya also share an important call to action for us all to get engaged to end obstetric fistula.
Obstetric fistula can be cured by a simple surgery, which is why Fistula Foundation is an important organization to make sure that fistula is cured and prevented. They also ensure that women and girls are rehabilitated after living with the disabling child-birth injury. As a member of Girls’ Globe, Fistula Foundation shares stories of their work and ways you can get invovled.
